Lesson Plans
The curriculum has been adapted by educators for educators and is divided into four basic areas of study: Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts.
Each focused lesson plan contains pre-game components for the classroom, game day activities for use in AutoZone Park, and post-game components as follow-up or additional learning. GuideReference to Common Core Standards. Both Language Arts and Mathematics lessons are aligned to Common Core standards. Science and Social Studies lessons are aligned to Tennessee state standards; some of these lessons may also reference Common Core, as appropriate. Example: "CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.11-12.3 Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, well-chosen details, and well-structured event sequences."
Objectives. Identifies classroom objectives to be acheived by the student. Example: "To identify two and three dimensional shapes, line relationships, classify angles, and determine the ways that math is used in baseball." Materials. List of materials to be used with each lesson. Supplemental materials included with lesson plans (such as chart, maps, or URLs) will be listed by title and be included on the pages immediately following each lesson. Before the Game.
